This Viennese residential complex, designed by artist Friedensreich Hundertwasser, is an absolute eye-catcher.
The Hundertwasser House was built between 1983 and 1985 and is an expression of Hundertwasser's philosophy of the "structural forest spiral". Instead of the usual straight lines and standardised forms in architecture, Hundertwasser preferred organic shapes, bold colours and a harmonious integration of nature and building.
The building consists of several individually designed flats and is characterised by colourful façades, rounded corners, uneven windows and green roofs. Each flat in the Hundertwasserhaus is unique, and the residents had the freedom to design their living spaces according to their own ideas.
The Hundertwasserhaus is not only a residential building, but also an art installation that is visited by many people to admire the extraordinary architecture and artistic elements. In addition to the residential building, there is also a Hundertwasser-style café as well as other buildings and projects designed by the artist, such as the Hundertwasser Kunsthaus in Vienna.
